The man accused of assaulting a custody officer at the Cayuga County Jail has been indicted by a grand jury.

According to District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci, Sincere Harrison was charged by the jury on Friday with one count of promoting prison contraband and one count of Assault, both felonies.

Harrison is alleged to punched a corrections officer multiple times on October 24. With the help of another officer, they were able to lock him back in his cell.

A handcuff key was later reported missing which was found after a search of Harrison’s property.

If convicted of both counts, he faces 14 years imprisonment, seven years for each charge.
