Newark Man Sentenced for Murder Conviction

A Wayne County man will spend 25 years to life in prison after being sentenced on his murder and robbery convictions.

Michael Robinson, of Newark, was found guilty in December of killing Torey Mathis of Arcadia in 2021.

The 52-year-old Mathis was found with multiple sharp injuries after police were called to House’s Hotel to check on his welfare after he didn’t report to work. Mathis died during an apparent robbery.
