In this episode:
- Wear a life jacket, even it it’s not required by law. Check to make sure they’re in good condition.
- Fall means lower water levels. Be careful for obstacles and when putting your boat on or off a trailer.

- Carry a VHF radio that can reach the Coast Guard emergency frequency.
- Protect your boat’s motor and systems from winter cold.
- By 2025, everyone will be required to have a Safe Boating Certificate to operate in NY state.
