The victim of last weekend’s shooting in the city of Elmira has passed away. The Elmira Police Department reports 46-year-old Joshua Tappen, of Elmira, passed away on Wednesday.

Just after 9 Sunday night, police responded to the Centertown Parking Garage in Elmira for a report of a possible shooting. When officers arrived, they found Tappan suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an undisclosed hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

There is no suspect in custody, and investigators don’t believe this to be a random act of violence. The Elmira Police Department says it is actively investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call Elmira Police at (607) 737-5626 or leave a message on the anonymous tip line at (607) 271-HALT.
