Local State Senator Proposes Bill to Raise New York’s Speed Limit

Should New York State increase its maximum speed limit? One local lawmaker is saying yes.

Republican State Senator Tom O’Mara has introduced a bill that would increase the maximum speed limit in the state from 65 to 70 miles per hour on highways that meet the Department of Transportation’s criteria. The bill is currently in the Senate Transportation Committee and if approved, would go into effect immediately.
