Just days after state lawmakers approved a new 229-MILLION dollar budget, Governor Kathy Hochul is continuing to announce details of the spending plan.

At an event with labor leaders, Hochul discussed the budget’s impact on the minimum wage, saying “the budget raises the minimum wage downstate up to 17 dollars an hour by 2026 and upstate 16 dollars and hour.”

Hochul adds that the minimum wage will be indexed to inflation. 18 other states either currently tie their minimum wage to inflation or some other economic formula or are slated to do this.
