State Senator Pam Helming is pushing for a bill that would create a state Parkinson’s Disease registry.

Speaking on FLX Morning, Helming said she wants to “create a database where information on people who have Parkinson’s could be fed into this database that would allow clinicians and researchers to begin to make data informed decisions.”

Data collected could be used to support studies and identify high risk groups.

The end goal would be for each state to have a registry which would feed into the CDC’s national neurological conditions surveillance system. That data could then be analyzed in the search for treatment options or even a cure.
