Police Pursuit Ends in Crash With RTS Bus, Pedestrian Struck in Rochester

A police pursuit ended in a crash involving a city bus and a pedestrian Tuesday morning in Rochester, prompting road closures and an ongoing investigation.

According to the New York State Police, the incident happened around 10:54 a.m. when members of the Troop E Community Stabilization Unit were pursuing a 2015 Chevrolet SUV. Authorities say the suspect vehicle failed to stop at a red light and collided with a Rochester Regional Transit Service bus that was traveling northbound at the intersection of Clifford Avenue and Hudson Avenue.

Following the crash, the bus struck a pedestrian, police said. The extent of injuries has not yet been released.

The State Police Troop E Collision Reconstruction Unit is responding to investigate the scene. The intersection remains closed, and motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
