A New York State Police investigator was injured Thursday while assisting in the execution of a search warrant, police say.The investigator was assigned to the US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force

According to troopers, the incident occurred at approximately 8:15a at 2000 Lodi St, Apartment B, when members from the Marshals, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Parole attempted to execute 67-year-old Cedric Cundiff, who is wanted in connection to an armed robbery case in Massachusetts.

When attempting to take Cundiff into custody, he allegedly barricaded himself in a bedroom. Police say it was then that the investigator attempted to enter the room behind a protective shield when Cundiff slashed his hand with a knife. Cundiff was then tased and taken into custody without further incident.

The investigator was taken to Upstate University Hospital for treatment of several lacerations on his hand and a fractured finger.

While the investigation is ongoing, police say Cundiff is expected to face additional charges related to the alleged assault.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
