Governor Kathy Hochul spoke at the New York State Sheriff’s Association Winter Conference in Albany on Wednesday. The governor spoke of her proposed 2025 state budget by highlighting that $347 million is included for local law enforcement.

The budget includes $888 million of targeted investments geared toward improving public safety. Hochul says that includes an investment to crack down on retail theft.

Hochul said, “And the more support I can give an organization like this, and to all of you out there in your counties, all across this great state, I know it would be a better place, a safer place, and a place that people want to live and raise their families. That’s what we’re in this together for, and I’m so happy to have the partnership of all of you.”
