Five juveniles from Rochester, including an 11-year-old girl, were detained Monday after license plate reading technology helped police recover a stolen vehicle in Greece.
Officials with the Greece Police Department said a stolen 2020 Hyundai Elantra was detected traveling along Dewey Avenue. Officers located the vehicle in the 3800 block of Dewey Avenue and took the five suspects into custody without incident.
The vehicle had been reported stolen in Rochester, authorities said.
Two boys, ages 14 and 17, and a 15-year-old girl were each charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle. A 16-year-old boy was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
All four were issued expedited appearance tickets and released to their parents.
Police said the 11-year-old girl was not charged due to her age and was released to her parents.
