The Department of Environmental Conservation is reminding New York anglers that certain fish will be off-limits soon.

Pike, pickerel, tiger muskie, and walleye seasons close Friday. The DEC says this helps protect the species during the spawning season.

Open season for the fish will reopen on May 1.

The department adds that ice shanties need to be removed from ice by Friday.

More on the New York State fishing regulations can be found on the DEC’s website.
