Chemung County Sheriff’s Investigator Released From Hospital

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Investigator who was critically injured on March 29th while attempting to apprehend a larceny suspect is out of the hospital.

Mike Thettge was transferred to a rehabilitation center in Rochester on Thursday. Thettge had been at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre and, according to Sheriff Bill Schrom, had significantly improved during his two-week stay. Schrom added that Theetge has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

Theetge suffered a fractured skull and brain bleed after he and the suspect, an Ithaca man, were thrown from the hood of a moving getaway car in the parking lot. The getaway driver was arrested the following day in Ithaca.
