A Cayuga County man was ticketed for speeding following an accident on Pre-Emption Road in the town of Benton early Sunday morning.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, 19-year-old Shawn Martin, of Weedsport, was driving north near Culhane Road when he left the road on the east side and went into the ditch. The vehicle then struck the south side ditch of Culhane Road where the vehicle became airborne clearing both East and Westbound lanes of travel. The vehicle then landed in the North side ditch head first and then came to rest on the passenger side of the vehicle facing West.
Martin refused EMS treatment at the scene.
