A Wayne County man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after nearly causing a head-on collision with a marked police car in Ontario County.

59-year-old Matthew Johnson was arrested following the investigation into a complaint of a sick or intoxicated driver in Manchester. In addition to DWI, the Walworth man was charged with unsafe passing after nearly causing the collision with the Ontario County Deputy. Johnson’s wife, 51-year-old Elaine Cramer, also of Walworth, was arrested for obstructing governmental administration after not complying with lawful orders and resisting arrest.

Johnson was brought to the Ontario County Jail for CAP Court arraignment, while Cramer was released on an appearance ticket.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
