A Watkins Glen man has been sentenced in Schuyler County Court for two separate crimes that he admitted to.

James Gay was sentenced to one-and-a-third to four years in state prison by Judge Matthew Hayden for attempting dissemination of indecent material to a minor. The 45-year-old admitted to using social media to communicate with a person he believed was a minor and attempted to engage them in sexual conduct.

Gay was also sentenced to one-and-a-third to four years behind bars for his failure to register as a sex offender. He pleaded guilty to that charge back in May.

In addition to prison time, Gay will again have to register as a sex offender upon his release.
