A Waterloo woman was charged after allegedly spitting on a police officer while in custody earlier this week.
According to the Waterloo Police Department, Denise Savage, 41, was arrested around 7:09 p.m. on Feb. 3 in connection with an incident that began Jan. 31.
Police said that after Savage was taken into custody, she turned and spat in the face of an officer.
She was charged with harassment in the second degree and disorderly conduct. Savage was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Waterloo Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
