Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck says a Victory woman has been arrested in connection with property damage at two local businesses.

Deputies arrested 69-year-old Linda Murphy on Sept. 29 on warrants for criminal tampering in the third degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, both misdemeanors.

According to investigators, deputies first responded to a business in the Village of Weedsport around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 23 for a report of property damage. The suspect had already left the scene. A short time later, deputies were called to a disturbance in the Town of Victory involving Murphy.

An investigation determined Murphy was responsible for intentionally damaging property at businesses in both Weedsport and Victory.

Murphy was taken into custody on the warrants, processed, and arraigned in Cayuga County CAP Court. She is due back in both courts at a later date.
