A Varick man is facing multiple charges after allegedly violating an order of protection and injuring a woman during a domestic incident last week.
According to Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson, deputies were called to a residence on State Route 89 last Friday for a report of a physical domestic disturbance.
An investigation determined that 29-year-old Edward Carter had allegedly violated a court-issued order of protection by grabbing the protected party’s right hand and intentionally causing injury. The woman required on-scene treatment from emergency medical services. Authorities say the incident occurred in the presence of the couple’s two-year-old child.
Carter fled the scene before deputies arrived.
He was located and arrested on Monday. Carter is charged with first-degree criminal contempt (physical contact), endangering the welfare of a child, and second-degree harassment.
Following his arrest, Carter was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility and held on $2,000 bond after appearing in CAP Court. He is scheduled to appear in Varick Town Court at a later date.
