A traffic stop in the town of Benton Friday night resulted in the arrest of a Geneva man.
During the traffic stop, the Yates County Sheriff’s Office performed standardized field sobriety tests on Daniel Dematties, and then took the 35-year-old into custody. Dematties was taken to the Yates County Public Safety Building for a chemical test and was charged with DWI Common Law, DWI .08% or greater, speeding, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Dematties was released on appearance tickets to Benton Town Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
