A contractor in Tompkins County is accused of being paid over $400,000 by a client in Ithaca for work he has not finished.

In July of 2023, David Burns of Trumansburg was hired to demolish an existing building and build a modular home in its place. According to a State Police investigation, which began in March, Burns has only completed part of the job.

Burns has been charged with felony grand larceny and was sent to Tompkins County Jail to await arraignment.
