A deputy sheriff was injured after responding to a landlord-tenant dispute in Steuben County.
The incident began when the landlord, Scott Wilkins, of Bath, was accused by one of his tenants of harassment. It is alleged Wilkins withheld utilities from the tenant in violation of a County Court Order. When being placed under arrest, Wilkins allegedly resisted, resulting in the deputy suffering an undisclosed injury that they had to go to a hospital and receive treatment.
Wilkins was charged with felony assault along with misdemeanor charges of criminal contempt, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, and willful violation of a lease term.
