A 26-year-old Sennett resident was arrested by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office on multiple charges stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident.
On May 3rd, Gabrielle Hidy is accused of engaging in a verbal and physical altercation with another person at a home in Sennett. During the altercation, Hidy allegedly held the victim in such a manner around the neck that it interfered with their ability to breathe properly. Hidy also prevented the victim from leaving to flee to safety and to also attempt to contact emergency services to request help. When placed under arrest, Hidy allegedly became combative with deputies and began striking them. No deputies were injured during the altercation.
Following arraignment on charges of unlawful imprisonment, criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest, Hidy was sent to Cayuga County Jail in lieu of bail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
