A Schuyler County man will be sentenced in May after pleading guilty on Friday to charges of forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child, and felony criminal solicitation.

According to the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office, the case against John Swaney, Senior, stemmed from a February 2024 incident in which the 51-year-old solicited a 15-year-old victim for sexual intercourse and forcibly touched the victim without their consent. The proof supporting the indictment included an audio recording made by the victim in which the defendant could be heard admitting to sexual contact with the victim and using obscene language of a sexual nature in his attempt to cause them to engage in sexual intercourse with him.

The lead investigative agency on this case was the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Division. Schuyler County CID was assisted by the New York State Police Forensic Video/Multimedia Services Crime Laboratory.
