The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office says a Rochester woman has been charged after an investigation into improperly obtained public benefits.

Deputies say 48-year-old Christy Holtz was arrested on December 3 and charged with misuse of food stamps. Investigators allege Holtz received about $1,100 in SNAP benefits she wasn’t entitled to by failing to properly report her income to the Seneca County Department of Human Services.

Holtz was processed and released on an appearance ticket. She’s scheduled to appear in Waterloo Town Court later this month.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
