On Sunday, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 67-year-old City of Rochester man following an investigation into a property damage motor vehicle collision.

Deputies arrested Robert Sawyer of East Avenue after he was allegedly traveling westbound on State Route 104 in the Town of Ontario and failed to maintain his lane. According to investigators, Sawyer’s vehicle exited the roadway and struck a street sign.

Following an on-scene investigation, deputies determined Sawyer was driving while in a state of intoxication. He was taken into custody and transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, where he submitted to a chemical breath test. Police report Sawyer had a blood alcohol content of 0.18%.

Sawyer was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .18% or Higher, Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle, and Failure to Maintain Lane.

Sawyer was transported to the Wayne County Jail for processing and subsequently released on traffic tickets. He is scheduled to appear in Ontario Town Court on March 24th at 1:00 p.m. to answer the charges.
