On Sunday, February 8, 2026, Domenick Lepera was served and arraigned on an arrest warrant while incarcerated at the Steuben County Jail. The 34-year-old Prattsburgh resident now faces one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a Class B Felony.

The new charge stems from an incident that began on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. At approximately 8:58 AM, an off-duty member of the Village of Bath Police Department allegedly spotted Lepera walking on East Steuben Street. Officers were aware that Lepera had multiple outstanding felony warrants for his arrest.

When an on-duty officer attempted to take him into custody, Lepera allegedly fled on foot through several backyards. Following a brief pursuit, he was apprehended. During the chase, Lepera allegedly discarded a book bag that was later recovered by police. Authorities report the bag contained a large quantity of cash, suspected narcotics, and packaging materials.

Lepera was originally processed on the outstanding warrants and remanded to the Steuben County Jail. The suspected narcotics were sent to the New York State Crime Lab for analysis. On January 29, 2026, the lab results were returned, allegedly confirming that Lepera possessed 5.697 grams of heroin.

Following the lab results, the Bath Village Court issued the additional felony warrant. Lepera remains held at the Steuben County Jail, and officials say additional charges are expected once the case is presented to a Grand Jury.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
