Port Byron Man Faces Felony Drug Charge in Auburn

Police Blotter

A Port Byron man has been charged with a felony after Auburn police say they found cocaine in his vehicle while responding to a suspicious vehicle complaint.

According to the Auburn Police Department, officers were dispatched to the parking lot behind Advance Auto Parts at 317 Genesee St. at about 3:13 p.m. on February 10.

Police say they found a vehicle occupied by a single person, identified as 56-year-old Douglas Wilson of Port Byron. Officers woke Wilson and conducted an investigation, during which they allegedly located a quantity of cocaine inside the vehicle.

Wilson was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony.

He was transported to the Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment at 7 a.m. on February 11. Police say Wilson was arraigned and later released on his own recognizance pending further court proceedings.

The case remains under investigation.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
