Port Byron Man Accused of Violating Order of Protection

A Port Byron man is facing charges of criminal contempt after he allegedly violated an order of protection.

While Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputies were on scene with the victim, 38-year-old Austin Burke, of Port Byron, is accused of violating a full stay away order of protection by contacting the victim by phone. A short time later, Burke was later located driving a car in the village of Weedsport after the victim notified police that he was driving behind her.

Burke was charged with criminal mischief and following his arraignment, was sent to Cayuga County Jail in lieu of bail.
