Police arrested an Auburn man who allegedly tried to take his neighbor’s car without their permission in an attempt to take someone to the hospital.

On May 20th, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Kenyon Landing in Brutus for a reported car larceny. During the investigation, it was determined that Corey Gamlen called 911 for a medical emergency. When the ambulance didn’t arrive immediately, Gamlen allegedly went to his neighbor’s house, took their car keys, and drove the neighbor’s car over to the residence where the medical emergency was occurring. Gamlen then put the patient into the back of the car and attempted to drive to the hospital. However, the owner of the car was able to take possession of the car as the ambulance arrived on the scene.

Gamlen was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and was scheduled to appear in Brutus Town Court at a future date.
