Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck reports that deputies arrested Ricketta Taylor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on December 9 on an outstanding welfare fraud warrant issued by Auburn City Court.

Authorities say Taylor, who formerly resided in Auburn, turned herself in at the Public Safety Building, where she was taken into custody. She was later arraigned at the Centralized Arraignment Court at the Cayuga County Jail and released on her own recognizance.

The case was investigated by the Cayuga County Department of Social Services Case Integrity Unit, the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
