Newfield Principal, Auburn Resident Charged with Aggravated DWI

A Tompkins County High School principal has been arrested for driving while intoxicated after being pulled over Wednesday morning in the City of Ithaca.

State police say 48-year old Newfield High School Principal and Auburn resident Patrick Mahunik was pulled over for failing to stay in his lane on Elmira Road. After failing several field sobriety tests, he was detained and was then found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.20%.

Mahunik was charged with aggravated DWI and is due to appear in Ithaca Court on July 5th.
