A Newark woman was arrested in Seneca County after deputies say she was caught driving drunk with a suspended license.

Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that around midnight on August 30, deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 96 in the Town of Waterloo after noticing it had a flat rear tire. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Michaela Jacobs, was found to be intoxicated and operating on a suspended license.

Deputies say Jacobs’ blood alcohol content was 0.16%, twice the legal limit. She was charged with misdemeanor DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation, as well as traffic violations for unsafe tire and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Jacobs was released with an appearance ticket and is due back in Waterloo Town Court on September 17 at 5 p.m.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
