An accident at the intersection of State Route 488 and East Avenue in the town of Hopewell Friday night resulted in the felony arrest of a Penn Yan man.
An investigation determined that Skyler Christensen had been driving a 2012 Infinity SUV when he allegedly failed to stop for a stop sign, traveled off the road and into a wooded area. Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies determined Christensen was intoxicated and subsequently arrested him. The 25-year-old was taken to Thompson Hospital in the city of Canandaigua for treatment of minor injuries.
Christensen was charged with felony Driving While Intoxicated due to a previous conviction within 10 years.
Christensen was released with citations and is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
