The Cortland County man who defrauded two Cayuga County couples will spend the next 2-4 years behind bars.

The District Attorney’s Office has announced that Michael Young of Preble was sentenced on Tuesday by Judge Jon Budelmann.

He had previously pled guilty to defrauding the couples out of nearly $19,000 between May and August of last year when, after doing a different job in the Town of Locke, he was advanced $12,000 dollars for additional work he didn’t complete.

He also took $7,000 dollars from a Town of Summerhill couple without doing any work.

Aside from the prison sentence, Young was ordered to pay full restitution.
