Newark Police arrested a 24-year-old man following an incident at the Newark Walmart.

Geoffrey Evans was allegedly observed by the store’s asset protection selecting multiple items from within Walmart, concealing them inside his backpack and attempting to leave the store without paying for the items valued at $65.49. Evans fled the scene in a vehicle, which was stopped a short time later by New York State Police.

Evans was charged with petit larceny and was released on an appearance ticket for Newark Village Court.
