Lyons Man Charged Following Welfare Fraud Investigation

Police Blotter

On Monday, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Lyons man following a joint investigation into welfare fraud.

Glenn Mattison, 61, of Water Street, was taken into custody on charges of Misuse of Food Stamps and Petit Larceny. The arrest follows an investigation conducted by the Wayne County Department of Social Services in conjunction with sheriff’s deputies.

Authorities allege that Mattison allowed another individual to use his Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) EBT card to purchase food items without proper authorization. Mattison was transported to the Wayne County Jail for processing and subsequently released on an appearance ticket.

Mattison is scheduled to answer the charges in Lyons Town Court on February 24.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
