An assault at the Cayuga County Jail last week has one man facing a felony charge.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Criminal Investigations Division became aware of an assault between two incarcerated individuals on Thursday. An investigation revealed that Billy Thompson Jr had initiated a physical altercation with another inmate leading to injury.
Thompson was arrested Monday and charged with assault while confined in a correctional facility, a felony. He was then arraigned and returned to jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
