A Geneva man was arrested Saturday night after police said he violated a court-issued order of protection.
According to the Waterloo Police Department, Anthony Merced, 35, was taken into custody around 11 p.m. Feb. 1. Authorities said Merced unlawfully entered the home of a protected party, remained there, and grabbed the victim, placing her in fear for her safety.
Merced was charged with criminal contempt in the first degree and criminal trespass. He is being held at the Seneca County Correctional Facility pending central arraignment.
Police said the charges stem from a violation of a Class A order of protection.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
