The investigation into a reported hit-and-run accident on Lake to Lake Road in the town of Gorham led to the arrest of a Geneva man.
An investigation determined that 26-year-old Matthew McCarthy was driving a 2019 GMC Sierra when he traveled off the road and struck a car that was parked in the driveway of 2697 Lake to Lake Road. Deputies located McCarthy on nearby Kearney Road where his GMC broke down as a result of the damage. Deputies determined McCarthy was drunk and subsequently arrested him.
Deputies charged McCarthy with DWI, Felony DWI .08% or greater (one-prior conviction) and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. McCarthy will answer the charges in Gorham Town Court at a later date.
