A property check at the old Emily Howland School in Scipio resulted in four men being charged with criminal trespass.

A Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle parked behind the building, which is privately owned. The deputy reportedly witnessed four people exiting the building.

Daniel Talavera of Macedon, Lucas Lyons of Farmington, Zakary Vanderwege of Palmyra, and Evan Haggett of Victor were each charged with criminal trespass.

All four were released on appearance tickets for Scipio Town Court.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
