Drones, deputies, and a K9 were used Tuesday to aid in the location and arrest of a Cayuga County man.

According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a Denman Road residence in the Town of Montezuma for a domestic incident where they learned that David Kalet had been at the victim’s residence in violation of a stay-away order of protection issued only days earlier due to another domestic incident involving the same victim.

Kalet had fled before the arrival of law enforcement and a search for him began. Using drones and the department K9, deputies found the 36-year-old lying down in a field near the residence, trying to avoid detection. There, he was taken into custody without incident.

Kalet was charged with Criminal Contempt and held at the jail on $5,000 cash bail.
