An Ithaca man sustained minor injuries after a Saturday accident in the Town of Covert.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports responding to the area of State Route 89 and Kingtown Road just after midnight for the report of a rollover crash.

28-year old Michael Polk was travelling south when he left the roadway and struck a culvert, causing the vehicle to roll several times before coming to a rest on its side.

Polk was taken via ambulance to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment.

The office says the accident was the result of driver inattention. Polk was issued traffic tickets and is due in court in June.

The vehicle was a total loss and towed from the scene.
