A Manchester man was arrested last week following a disturbance at a local motel in the Town of Canandaigua.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on August 13, 2025, to the Woodridge Motel on County Road 50 for a report of aggravated harassment. Investigators say a verbal dispute took place between two people at the motel. During the incident, 34-year-old Rafael Nieves-Cruz allegedly made threatening statements and acted in a manner that caused a woman to fear for her safety.

Deputies later located Nieves-Cruz and took him into custody without incident.

He was charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree aggravated harassment.

Further court proceedings are pending.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
