The Appellate Division has upheld the conviction of two men in two separate felony cases in Auburn.
The Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office has announced that the Rochester-based court upheld the convictions of Floyd Chavis and Arthur Janes.
Chavis was convicted on January 14, 2020, of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, and two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia. In February of 2019, police found heroin, glassine bags, cash, and a stolen AR-15 at his Auburn apartment.
On December 14, 2021, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by five years post-release supervision.
Janes pled guilty on November 4, 2021, of Criminal Sale and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Janes was caught selling cocaine earlier that year and was also found to have been in possession of 30 grams of cocaine, 16 grams of methamphetamine, three digital scales, baggies to package narcotics, and two illegally possessed long guns.
On January 20, 2022, he was sentenced to four years in prison plus two years PRS for each count, running concurrently.
