A car crash last week in Cato has one man facing a drug charge.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office reports responding to the accident just before 11:00 on the morning of April 26 at Jordan Road and Fire Lane 11. An investigation determined the vehicle failed to keep right and crossed into the oncoming lane before leaving the road and striking a utility pole. The driver, Paul Mettler of Jordan, was uninjured.
During the investigation, deputies claim they discovered drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and illicit narcotics on Mettler’s person which he attempted to conceal.
The Jordan man was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Mettler is scheduled to appear in Cato Town Court on Monday
