An Ontario County woman has been charged following a shoplifting investigation at the Walmart in Hopewell.

Deputies arrested 60-year-old Maureen Loeffler, of Canandaigua, on Saturday after determining she had stolen merchandise from the store.

Loeffler was charged with petit larceny, issued an appearance ticket, and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
