Canandaigua Woman Arrested Following Victor Shoplifting Spree

Police Blotter

Last Saturday, Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Canandaigua woman after she allegedly stole over $1,000 worth of merchandise from multiple retailers in the Town of Victor.

At approximately 5:06 p.m., deputies located Courtney Simpson, 29, at Target as she was reportedly pushing a shopping cart filled with stolen items out of the store. Investigators observed that Simpson had concealed various pieces of merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods, Old Navy, and Target.

When deputies attempted to take her into custody, Simpson allegedly resisted arrest. Following a brief struggle, officers were able to secure her. Further investigation revealed that Simpson was also in possession of stolen merchandise from Macy’s.

Simpson is charged with two counts of Petit Larceny and one count of Resisting Arrest. She was transported to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office Substation for processing and subsequently released on an appearance ticket.

Simpson is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
