Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Canandaigua man on Thursday for first-degree criminal contempt.

Deputies say the charge against 45-year-old Justin Payne stems from a violation of an order of protection at Brentwood Apartments in Canandaigua, where Payne, currently incarcerated at the county jail, sent a letter to the protected victim.

He had previously been convicted of second-degree criminal contempt on August 13.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
