The investigation into an incident that occurred earlier this month on Jefferson Avenue in the city of Canandaigua resulted in the arrest of a Canandaigua man.

According to Canandaigua Police, on May 12th, it was determined that Daniel Novakowski had allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with another person during which he slapped them, threw them against a wall and placed his hands around their throat, causing physical injury.

Novakowski was charged two weeks later with strangulation and assault and was brought to Ontario County Jail for arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
